Over to EU: Red Box referendum competition
Klaxon! Are you an aspiring political journalist aged 18-25? The Times News Academy and Red Box want your contributions on the historic EU referendum debate.
With just weeks to go until June’s crunch vote, we’re inviting you to submit a compelling case for why the UK should stay in, or leave the EU, with the best entries in with a chance of working with Red Box to see their work published.
We’re looking for clear presentations of your argument in an easy-to-read and engaging way. Feel free to use charts, a short video, animations, infographics or even take inspiration from our Red Box podcast. These can be submitted alongside an op-ed or as stand alone pieces – whichever you feel would be most persuasive.
If you would like to write a comment piece, be sure to include plenty of well-researched facts and quotes from any interviews you have conducted. The key is to create an original and eye-catching argument.
You also need to tell us what demographic your piece is aimed at and why. Are you seeking to persuade readers of your own age, your grandparents’ generation or from a very specific sector of society?
Ultimately, we want to hear what you have to say on this crucial debate and showcase some of the best writing and ideas from the next generation of political journalists.
Entries should not exceed 500 words and must be submitted by 5pm on Monday 30 May on the News Academy website.
