Chris Evans raises £864,750 for Ukraine

Chris Evans’ auction for Ukraine on Virgin Radio UK has raised £864,750 which will go towards the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

More than 100 prizes were donated for the auction including owning all the rights to an unpublished song by Boy George which he wrote about Ukraine after performing in the country, a Bid & Breakfast extravaganza at Chris’ house & VIP Pub in the Park, Lunch hosted by Matthew Goode, Matt Smith, Hugh Bonneville & Colin Firth (with a bonus Jack Savoretti thrown in) and tickets to Las Vegas for a meet and greet with Rod Stewart and three night stay at Ceasars Palace.Listeners also gave more than £20,000 through the donate button, outside of the bids.Chris Evans told listeners: “The Frothy Coffee Man has done the best job ever with this. Basically everyone we contacted to get involved said yes.

“Honestly when we launched we thought £100,000 would be great, £500,000 would be beyond a dream, but more than £800,000 is unbelievable, thank you!”
