- Latest high profile signing joins Piers Morgan and Tom Newton Dunn in prime time schedule ahead of spring launch of TalkTV
News UK Broadcasting today announces its latest high profile on-screen hire ahead of the launch of TalkTV later this spring.
The legendary Sharon Osbourne has signed up to front a major new current affairs primetime panel show: The Talk. Airing weeknights on TalkTV, the programme will bring together five opinionated famous faces – all from different backgrounds and with differing views – to debate the most interesting stories of the day.
Covering topics from the UK and around the world, the panellists will serve up their outspoken views in an honest and straight-talking debate. Across sixty minutes, the five personalities will deep dive into the issues most affecting viewers, from news to politics, crime to health and entertainment to sport.
Sharon Osbourne said: “I’m excited to be working with News UK, the panel and my good friend Piers. Watch this space for some exciting and lively debates from us all.”
News UK Chief Executive Rebekah Brooks said: “Sharon has built a unique and hugely successful media career, combining strong views and opinion with a lot of warmth and fun. Her unbounding energy will make her show compelling viewing and we are delighted to give her a new home at TalkTV.”
Sharon Osbourne is a true TV legend. Unafraid of controversy and always determined to speak her mind, Sharon is not only an acclaimed TV personality, she has been immensely successful as a manager, mother, author, producer and philanthropist.
Sharon’s TV career began when she created and produced the cable reality series
The Osbournes, which starred her husband, Ozzy, and their children. She was a judge on The X Factor for seven seasons. She later served as a judge for five seasons on America’s Got Talent and as a co-host on CBS show The Talk for 11 seasons in the US, for which she was awarded with an Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Hosts Daytime Emmy in 2017.
Osbourne is the author of four best-selling books, including Sharon Osbourne Extreme: My Autobiography. She is currently an Executive Producer on a forthcoming big
screen Biopic of hers and Ozzy’s life story through Sony Pictures Studios.
The show will form part of the prime time launch schedule for TalkTV, and will air alongside a major new show from iconic broadcaster Piers Morgan. Piers Morgan Uncensored, fronted by the former Good Morning Britain and CNN anchor, will be a fearless forum for lively, intelligent debate and agenda-setting interviews; celebrating free speech and the right for people to share their views. This is the first show of its kind broadcast across three separate continents.
The new, sixty minute daily show will be broadcast in the UK on TalkTV, streamed on FOX Nation in the US and aired in Australia on Sky News Australia.
Meanwhile renowned political journalist Tom Newton Dunn will present a major weeknight news and current affairs programme on TalkTV.
The lively, hour-long prime time show will give viewers the news that matters to them in a straight and balanced way. News UK’s world-beating stable of specialist journalists from print and broadcast will join Tom every night to share the very latest in their fields, from The Times‘s political team to The Sun‘s showbiz desk, talkSPORT‘s correspondents as well as business reporters from across News Corp’s titles. It will also feature agenda-setting interviews and a regular discussion panel drawn from across the political spectrum.
Everyone in the UK will be able to access TalkTV and its programming, live or on-demand, either on their television or on any personal device. The channel will be streamed live and made widely available on all platforms, including linear TV and OTT, with content available across social media as well as News UK’s own broad inventory of websites and apps.
News UK continues to hire some exceptional new talent to join a schedule of prime time programming for the evenings with further announcements in the coming weeks.
