As the Ukraine-Russia conflict intensifies, News Corp, News UK and its brands have stepped up their efforts to help in Ukraine and those fleeing the conflict.
The Sun’s Ukraine Appeal, which was launched last week, has already raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for The Red Cross to help support many of the one million people fleeing the war zone. News UK has also made a donation of £100,000 towards it.
Wireless Ireland has launched a Ukraine Crisis Appeal in aid of The Red Cross, and all stations across the network will help to raise funds.
Hundreds of ads for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s UK-wide fundraising appeal will run across talkSPORT, talkRADIO, Virgin Radio and Times Radio until March 16. DEC members and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border, working to meet the immediate needs of people fleeing. Every pound donated by the UK public will be matched by the UK government through its Aid Match scheme up to the value of £20 million.
The Times also lists numerous ways you can help the people of Ukraine from the UK here.
News Corp has also agreed to match any employee donation to a registered charity through the News Corp Match programme. The instructions for this are here. You can donate directly through the platform, or if you have already donated, you can request a match. This is for all employees and up to a total of $500 a year (c. £375).
