Earlier this month, Virgin Radio Pride and News is Out teamed up to stage the first live recording of an episode of the award-winning Big Conversation series.
An expert panel was brought together in TNB to take a look at the big question; “How hard is it for LGBTQ+ people to become parents?”
The group chat discussion sought to examine what the barriers are to becoming a parent as an LGBTQ+ person, what stigma people experience and explore the various ways there are to go about adoption.
Hosted by comedian, award winning podcaster, broadcaster and actor Samantha Baines, the panel included IVF journey and Fertility Equality Activists Whitney & Megan and bisexual dad and author Lewis Oakley, all sharing their experience and answering questions submitted both on the day and ahead of the session.
Mike Cass, Content Director for Virgin Radio, said of the show “Becoming a parent is not an easy decision for anyone and to be able to explore this from a LGBTQ+ view is so important, and to have been able to do this in front of an invited audience is yet another first for Virgin Radio Pride.”
Alex Macleod, Co-Chair of News is Out added, “Exploring the subjects that matter to our members is a central pillar of our work at News is Out. We were thrilled to be able to partner with the Virgin Radio Pride team to make this event happen. It is something we will definitely look to do again on other subjects in the future.”
