News UK
News UK is delighted to be teaming up with Sky Sports in an exclusive distribution partnership, enabling us to continue showing web and mobile Premier League match clips across our titles. This new three-year partnership with Sky Sports will begin next year.
This is a strong partnership with Sky Sports, which will continue to enhance News UK’s sports offerings across The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times, transforming how football is enjoyed across a range of platforms – whether in print or through the latest Dream Team offering.
News UK has one more year of full exclusivity of Premier League clip rights for the coming season alongside our FA Cup rights, and this is made more attractive for our customers with the addition of Champions League clip rights starting this year too. Our three-year exclusive distribution partnership with Sky Sports begins next year.
Compelling content is at the heart of News UK’s distinct offering, helping us deliver our goal of securing a sustainable future for our journalism. This is testament to our technological edge and firm commitment to delivering world-class digital content to our customers.
News UK CEO, Mike Darcey, said:
It was a competitive process with lots of interest from across the industry, which is testament to the innovation displayed by, and intuitive marketing campaigns created by, teams at News UK since first winning the rights in 2013. This work ultimately raised the profile of the opportunity represented by web and mobile clips to the Premier League and other sporting events.
This new partnership with Sky Sports will bring a better product to market for our customers. I couldn't have wished for a better start to the 2015/16 season where our titles will be at the forefront in engaging sporting debate, backed up with clip rights for the 'big three' over the coming 12 months: Premier League, FA Cup and the Champions League.
Sky Sports Managing Director, Barney Francis, said:
Sky Sports is the home of the Premier League and this will allow us to offer our customers even more content across mobile and online. The way people watch sport is changing rapidly and this agreement ensures Sky Sports will continue to offer the best coverage across TV, mobile, online and social media. However they choose to watch, our customers will have all the defining moments from the Premier League at their fingertips for years to come.
