Starting on October 30, talkSPORT will broadcast rugby’s Autumn Nations Series in the UK for the first time ever on the network. Coverage will include 50 exclusive matches to broadcast over the next three years, with a top team of rugby talent.
The new audio rights follow talkSPORT’s coverage of the Lions tour this summer, as the players head back to their specific countries to compete in the internationals being held across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy.
Across the 16 live commentary matches this autumn, the coverage will be delivered by a top class team who have amassed almost 400 caps between them, including former England Forward Ben Kay, England Women’s international Rachel Burford, former Ireland inside centre, Gordon D'Arcy, Wales’ second highest all time try scorer, George North and Scotland’s all time highest points scorer, Chris Paterson MBE.
They will be alongside presenters Hugh Woozencroft, Craig Doyle, Tim Cocker and Shebahn Aherne with live commentary from talkSPORT’s Andrew Mckenna, Channel 4 Rugby Commentator, Miles Harrison, Alfie Reynolds, Russell Hargreaves and Stuart McFarlane.
There will be plenty of tailored content across the month for all rugby fans to enjoy. Along with the live commentary matches, in depth previews will be available on the flagship talkSPORT shows, along with YouTube content, tailored towards the tournament, as well as informative and interesting articles and blogs on the talkSPORT website.
Head of talkSPORT, Lee Clayton said: “talkSPORT has strong credentials in rugby and we are delighted to expand our coverage across the Autumn Nations Series. As a network we are powered by fans, and our experienced line up of former internationals and first-class rugby commentators will bring supporters all the insight, analysis and reaction across a fascinating month of action.”
Ben Morel, CEO of Six Nations Rugby, organisers of the Autumn Nations Series, said: “We can’t wait to get our partnership with talkSPORT underway. When it comes to audio broadcast they deliver award-winning coverage; coupled with a first-class line up for Autumn it looks really exciting for fans.”
talkSPORT pundit Ben Kay added: “I’m delighted to be a part of our Autumn Nations rugby team on talkSPORT - we will be there to deliver the best insight and reaction from the live action and all the latest news and analysis from the world of rugby.”
