The Times launches Clean It Up campaign
The Times has launched its Clean It Up campaign which aims to press for urgent action from the water industry and its regulators to help reduce pollution and clean up Britain’s waterways.
The campaign, backed by musician-turned-activist Feargal Sharkey has goals including that there must be greater action by water companies to improve the thousands of storm overflows that discharge effluent near beaches and rivers. The campaign also issues a call for the environment agency to have the power and resources to impose strict penalties against water company executives who fail to prevent serious incidents of pollution.
