News UK's London Lounge has hosted packed crowds at this year's party conferences, with editors mingling with politicians in Brighton and Manchester.
Last week at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, The Times and The Sunday Times hosted 150 guests, including shadow Culture Secretary Michael Dugher and shadow Minister for Young People Gloria De Piero.
Former leadership candidate Yvette Cooper was also there along with ex-shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna.
The following night The Sun played host to a party. Editor Tony Gallagher addressed the 120-strong crowd including Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Michael Dugher, and our own local MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, Neil Coyle.
The Sun Editor said:
A strong politics in the UK needs a strong opposition to hold the government to account. Our door is open to Labour MPs.
Other notable attendees included Chairman of the Home Affair Select Committee, Keith Vaz, Labour MPs Fiona Mactaggart and Helen Goodman and representatives from the U.S Embassy.
To kick off the News UK sponsored London Lounge at the Conservative party conference in Manchester this week, former BBC political editor Andrew Marr fronted a packed in conversation event with News UK comms director Guto Harri.
Harri, himself a former BBC chief political correspondent, interviewed Marr about his latest HarperCollins novel of political intrigue, Children of the Master.
On Monday night Cabinet ministers flocked to The Sun’s drinks reception, where Home Secretary Theresa May, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, Culture Secretary John Whittingdale, Business Secretary Sajid Javid, Justice Secretary Michael Gove and Leader of the House of Commons Chris Grayling mingled with our staff at the reception that attracted 200 people.
Sun Editor Tony Gallagher chatted to politicians along with News UK chief operating officer and ex-Sun Editor David Dinsmore.
Also there were The Sun political editor Tom Newton Dunn and his deputy Steve Hawkes as well as former England footballer Sol Campbell, who made an unsuccessful bid to become Tory candidate for Mayor of London.
