Tomorrow (Friday), The Irish Sun is proudly supporting the Irish Cancer Society’s ‘Paint it Pink Day’ with a specially commissioned edition of the newspaper edited by Irish panto star and top baker Twink – with a little help from her Deputy Edit-grrr and beloved pooch, Teddy.
The special edition of the newspaper is just one example of the variety of charitable initiatives taking place tomorrow, as shops, homes, towns and businesses all over Ireland are painted pink to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
Twink, a regular face on Irish TV and theatre stages for the past four decades, said “Paint it Pink is a fantastic, fun way for people to raise money for Irish Cancer Society’s campaign to fight breast cancer. Guest-editing The Irish Sun is a great way of raising the campaign’s profile and getting across the key message that there is so much more we can do to tackle this terrible disease”.
During her visit to the newspaper’s headquarters, Twink (and Teddy) chaired the daily news conference, reviewed the photographs of the day, designed the front page and even found time to interview the Rose of Tralee, Elysha Brennan, who has had her own cancer fight. The special edition tomorrow also features an exclusive interview with Ireland’s Minister for Heath, Leo Varadkar.
Paul Clarkson, Editor of The Irish Sun, said “We are incredibly proud to be supporting Paint it Pink Day once again this year on what is now a national fundraising day in Ireland for the battle against breast cancer. With Twink editing our special Friday edition, we hope to shine a light on the amazing work that Irish Cancer Society does every day of the year helping those affected by breast cancer, and how continued support is vital. ”
In addition to the special editorial, The Irish Sun’s advertisers will donate a proportion of their proceeds from Friday’s edition to Irish Cancer Society.
