talkSPORT grandee Adrian Durham who has hosted talkSPORT Drive for fifteen years, most recently alongside former England cricket legend Darren Gough, is becoming talkSPORT’s main live football presenter across both Premier League and EFL coverage, as the station bolsters its coverage of all English clubs across the divisions.
Durham will still present one Drive show per week and lead the popular GameDay Live round the Grounds show on Saturday as he attempts to visit all 92 grounds throughout the season, bringing his incomparable knowledge and football insight to his new extended role across the week.
talkSPORT is set to exclusively broadcast 110 EFL games across the network this season as the network doubles the number of hours of EFL output.
talkSPORT’s once per week EFL show will now be twice weekly, with regular hour-long Monday and Friday shows on talkSPORT 2, with the network set to deliver 300 hours of EFL programming across the season including all the live coverage.
Dan Windle will lead talkSPORT’s Monday and Friday shows bringing listeners all the latest news from the EFL, alongside Sheffield United forward Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, Ian Holloway who brings his experience of managing more than 500 games, commentator Lucy Ward, former Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo and former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray.
Head of talkSPORT Lee Clayton said: “Following a strong Euros campaign and lack of access to live domestic football for fans through the pandemic, there’s going to be huge interest in the Premier League and the EFL this season as we welcome fans back to stadiums up and down the country.
“We are powered by fans, so this year we are doubling our EFL output and have appointed Adrian to a new dedicated role to further bolster our coverage of all English clubs and reflect our passion for English football across all the divisions. Adrian has incomparable knowledge and football insight and has a fantastic love of being around stadiums across all divisions. He will bring huge expertise to our live football schedule across the week, launching our Saturday Around the Grounds coverage into Tuesday and Wednesday too.”
Adrian Durham said: “I’ve loved all fifteen years on talkSPORT Drive and all the passionate debate and chat I’ve had with our fantastic guests and listeners during that time. talkSPORT does live sport so well, so I’m excited to be taking on the new Live Football Presenter role, going to even more games, being with the fans, to bring all the passion throughout the week across all the divisions from the touch line and around the grounds, as well taking the lead role on following England all the way to Qatar and beyond.”
talkSPORT also unveiled its new marketing campaign for the season this week - ‘Powered by fans’ bringing every electrifying moment from the Premier League and EFL to talkSPORT listeners.
You can listen to talkSPORT’s EFL exclusive coverage via DAB+, by downloading the talkSPORT app or asking your smart speaker to play talkSPORT 2.
