Voting for The Sunday Times Motor Awards has now opened
News UK fires up the engine on The Sunday Times Motor Awards 2021 as it announces the nationwide awards are now open for voting. In its fourth year, the Motor Awards brings together the collective expertise and audiences of The Times, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, The Sun and talkSPORT. This year’s awards will be in association with Co-op Insurance as part of its ongoing partnership with News UK to promote the brand’s enhanced motoring proposition.
Like previous years the awards will be judged by consumers as well as prominent automotive journalists across News UK’s titles, looking to champion best-in-class across all motor segments.
Consumers will be able to vote for free across three categories including ‘Electric Car of the Year’, ‘Value Car of the Year’ and ‘Family Car of the Year’.
News UK’s motoring journalists Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun, Nick Rufford, Assistant Editor at The Sunday Times, Will Dron, Editor at Driving.co.uk and David Green, Motoring Editor at Luxx magazine, will be casting their expert votes in separate categories including Sports, Design, Adventure and Luxury.
The winners of each category will be revealed on Sunday 10th October in The Sunday Times Magazine, The Sun on Sunday and Driving.co.uk.
Rob Walsh, Motors Category Director, News UK, said: “Having established our Motor Awards over the last few years, we’re delighted to be launching this year’s campaign to celebrate the outstanding new vehicles of the last 12 months. As the UK automotive industry continues to adapt to the challenging economic headwinds, it’s never been more important for us to support the sector and shine a spotlight on the many spectacular examples of innovations it continues to deliver.
“The extensive reach of News UK’s motoring audiences coupled with our motoring experts makes The Motor Awards a valued prize for manufacturers. We hope the competition will be as fierce as ever and look forward to crowning our winners in October.”
Will Dron, Editor of Driving.co.uk, commented: “The Motor Awards is back, and it’s fair to say so is the car industry. Challenges remain following Covid restrictions but sales are recovering and new models are flowing into showrooms — both physical and virtual. We’ve seen the launch of a major new brand and the reinvention of others as they commit to, or double down on, electrification.
“This has resulted in a huge number of new cars to test drive since lockdown was eased — so many that keeping on top of the reviews has been a challenge. Car buyers have reason to be very excited about the breadth of new vehicles available to buy right now.”
Carl Sharples, Head of Sales & Marketing, Co-op: “The Motor Awards partnership is a first for Co-op Insurance and we are delighted to be working with News UK to engage with car-owners and enthusiasts via co-created content. It is one of Co-op’s aims in 2021 to grow the Co-op Insurance brand.”
The Motor Awards voting will run until Sunday 29th August. For more information on the awards and how to vote please visit Driving.co.uk and The Sun.
