Following the announcement dated 12th May that News UK & Ireland Ltd had reached an agreement with Smurfit Kappa to acquire full ownership of the Smurfit Kappa News Press (SKNP) print business based at Kells, News UK & Ireland is pleased to confirm that regulatory approval has been received and the transaction was completed on 25th June.

A spokesperson for News UK & Ireland Ltd said: "We wish to thank Smurfit Kappa for their management of the Kells site and our printing contract over the past 21 years, and the support they have offered to ensure a smooth transition of ownership".
