Piers Morgan isn’t known for suffering fools, and in a new TV ad to launch TalkTV - the new national TV channel for news, current affairs, and straight-talking debate and opinion - his patience is pushed to its absolute limits by an overzealous and overly-woke producer.
The ‘Can’t Say That’ TV campaign, features Piers Morgan promoting his new show Piers Morgan Uncensored, which airs at 8pm weeknights on Sky Channel 526, Virgin Media Channel 627, Freeview Channel 237 and Freesat Channel 217, as well as via connected TV services and smart devices.
In the 30 second advert, which aired for the first time on Sunday 24 April, every time Piers tries to explain what his new show is about he is interrupted by a producer attempting to police his language on an increasingly ludicrous and laughable basis.
The TV commercial is part of a wider campaign that features press, outdoor, social media and radio executions and has been developed as a collaboration between News UK and Pulse, News UK’s in-house advertising agency operated by The&Partnership.
One print advertisement features Piers Morgan as both an angel and a devil with the headline “Love him or hate him, you won’t want to miss him”. Another shows Morgan gripping the Elizabeth Tower of the Houses of Parliament and promising that his show will be “holding politicians to account”.
Social media video advertising features Piers giving straight talking perspectives on issues of the day and public figures.
Will Martin, Head of Marketing for TalkTV, says: “TalkTV is a bold new voice in news, current affairs, debate and opinion. The channel will also draw on world-class journalism and content from across News UK’s stable of brands. Our campaign aims to showcase Piers Morgan Uncensored in a bold and entertaining way with much more to come over the coming weeks.”
Benedict Pringle, General Manager of Pulse, says: “We wanted to position the channel as a platform for both vigorous debate and lighthearted fun and nobody delivers on those things more than Piers Morgan.”
The TV advert is on linear and BVOD, outdoor advertising features on high impact sites across the country, press is running in The Times, The Sun and a range of other national titles and social media activity can be seen, amongst other places, on the TalkTV Twitter channel.
Piers Morgan Uncensored will celebrate free speech and the right for people to share their views. In a global first, the new and unique sixty minute daily show will be broadcast on weeknights in the UK on TalkTV, streamed on FOX Nation in the US and aired in Australia on Sky News Australia. The show will be broadcast live from state-of-the-art studio facilities in Ealing.
The primetime launch schedule will also see the debut of The Talk featuring the legendary Sharon Osbourne. Airing weeknights on TalkTV, the panel debate will bring together five opinionated famous faces - all from different backgrounds and with differing views - to debate the most interesting stories of the day.
Covering topics from the UK and around the world, the panellists will serve up their outspoken views in an honest and straight-talking debate. Across sixty minutes, the five personalities will deep dive into the issues most affecting viewers, from news to politics, crime to health and entertainment to sport.
Meanwhile award-winning political journalist Tom Newton Dunn will present a major weeknight news and current affairs programme on TalkTV: The News Desk.
The lively, hour-long prime time show will give viewers the news that matters to them in a straight and balanced way. News UK's world-beating stable of specialist journalists from print and broadcast will join Tom every night to share the very latest in their fields, from The Times's political team to The Sun's showbiz desk, talkSPORT's correspondents as well as business reporters from across News Corp’s titles. It will also feature agenda-setting interviews and a regular discussion with a peerless panel drawn from across the political spectrum including: Adam Boulton, Anas Sarwar, Bim Afolami, Emily Sheffield, Grace Blakeley, Isabel Oakeshott, James Slack, Kate McCann, Miatta Fahnbulleh and Tan Dhesi.
TalkTV’s primetime schedule will also be simulcast on TalkRadio. And TalkRadio’s roster of daytime talent, including Julia Hartley-Brewer, Mike Graham, Ian Collins and Jeremy Kyle, will be broadcast on TalkTV, which runs 24/7. TalkRadio has seen fast growth in recent years across all platforms, including digital radio and the TalkRadio app, on YouTube and has been broadcasting successfully on TalkRadio TV since last year.
TalkTV will also be streamed via Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV Plus (channel 4316) and on YouTube, as well as via the Talk.TV website and TalkTV iOS and Android apps, which will include live, catch-up and VOD functionality. TalkTV will also be available via Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Twitter. TalkTV will be available to everyone in the UK.
