talkSPORT and Times Radio are going head to head for the coveted Best Speech Breakfast Show crown at this year’s ARIAS awards for the audio and radio industry.
Nominations were announced last night at a glittering event held at The News Building, in London Bridge – and News Broadcasting scooped 11. talkSPORT leads the way with seven nominations, including Lianne Sanderson as Best New Presenter, Game Day Exclusive as Best Sports Show and Best Event Coverage for the Euro 2020 Final.
Meanwhile Manveen Rana also got a nod as Best Speech Presenter for her work on the hugely successful Stories of our times podcast.
And Virgin Radio UK claimed two nominations: The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky for Best Music Breakfast Show and Best Factual Single Programme for The Pain of Pulse, part of the award-winning content line up for Virgin Radio Pride.
EVP, President of Broadcasting, Scott Taunton said: “A huge well done to all our nominees for the ARIAS. It was fantastic to host the event in The News Building, with such a strong showing in the nominations. At News Broadcasting we continue to drive innovation and produce the very highest quality of output. Good luck to all our nominees for the ceremony in May.”
Radio Academy Managing Director, Sam Bailey said: “We were delighted to hold the ARIAS Nominations Party in The News Building last night. The 17th floor event space has one of the most stunning views in London, and our guests were treated to a fantastic drinks reception supported by News UK. All in all, a brilliant way to launch The 2022 ARIAS.”
The ARIAS are dubbed the Oscars of radio and audio and are the most prestigious awards night across the industry. The final winners will be revealed at a glitzy ceremony on Tuesday May 3, at The Adelphi Theatre in London.
