TalkTV has revealed its logo and visual identity ahead of the channel’s launch this spring.
News UK Broadcasting Executive Creative Director, Erron Gordon, speaking about the new TalkTV brand identity, said: “At TalkTV we will be covering the big stories of the day and beyond, stories that matter to our audience. Our new logo represents that conversation whether on TV, on radio or on their smartphones.
“Our intention was to create a logo that is a bold, clear, recognisable and unique mark, one that stands out and cuts-through the rest of the established news and current affairs ‘noise’.
“When deciding on the colour scheme for TalkTV we wanted to marry authority with warmth. For our primetime television output we’ll use the darker more serious tones of navy blue and during the daytime we’ll freshen things up with a lighter blue. Both primetime and daytime blues marry up beautifully with the warmth of persimmon orange, a stunning orangey gold palette. These colours reflect the message and tone of the network and our output.
“The speech bubble is a clear symbol of our intent as a channel to engage with our audience. The fact the speech bubble contains and holds the TalkTV wordmark is a clear indication that the channel is at the centre of all of this, enabling people to voice their opinion.”
The logo was designed by award-winning British design agency Jump, who have produced creative identities for leading media and entertainment brands for more than 25 years.
News UK Broadcasting CEO, Scott Taunton, said: “TalkTV’s prime time schedule will be appointment-to-view television, super-charged by Piers Morgan’s flagship show and Tom Newton Dunn’s major weeknight news and current affairs programme. Meanwhile we will continue talkRADIO’s drive to visualisation outside of TalkTV primetime programming. As we continue to assemble a world-class team for TalkTV, this new visual identity moves us one step closer to our launch this spring.”
TalkTV will offer a mix of programming. There will be proper news bulletins, sports and entertainment shows, as well as current affairs, debate, opinion and documentaries which call on the expertise of journalists and broadcasters from across News UK’s roster of brands, including talkRADIO, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio, Times Radio, The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times, with a major new primetime show from iconic broadcaster Piers Morgan.
Recent hires include Kate McCann as the station’s new Political Editor and leading TV production talent including Vivek Sharma as TalkTV Executive Producer, Oliver Gardner as Deputy Head of Studio Output and Ben Briscoe as Series Editor for Piers Morgan’s new global show reporting into News UK Broadcasting Executive Editor, TV, Winnie Dunbar Nelson.
TalkTV will be streamed live and made widely available on all platforms, including linear TV and OTT, with content available across social media as well as News UK’s own broad inventory of websites and apps. Everyone in the UK will be able to access the channel and its programming, live or on-demand, either on their television or on any personal device.
News UK continues to hire some exceptional new talent to join a schedule of prime time programming for the evenings with further announcements in the coming weeks.
