Hot off the heels of announcing that broadcasting powerhouse Andrew Neil would be joining Times Radio, the nation’s Election Station, his unmissable interviews and peerless analysis will now start live on air from Monday 3 June.
Andrew Neil will broadcast a one hour show every Monday to Thursday at 1pm throughout the whole campaign, guiding listeners through the highs and lows as the UK prepares to head to the ballot box on Thursday 4 July.
It will be an agenda-setting daily news programme focussing on the UK and US elections, featuring hard-hitting interviews with high-profile politicians and news-makers, probing debates and Andrew's must-listen take on the day's political events.
As part of the line-up, Michael Gove and Harriet Harman will be joining Andrew every week in a regular pairing to give their views on the campaign. With over 25 years of ministerial service between them, representing both the Conservatives and Labour, they are arguably the most experienced politicians stepping down from the Commons this year.
Andrew Neil said: “Someone once said a week is a long time in politics. In the digital age, a day is a long time. Join me on the Election Station from Monday June 3rd as I navigate Times Radio listeners through one of the most important elections in recent years. I’ll be bringing you the best interviews, the hottest debates and expert analysis.”
Tim Levell, Programme Director of Times Radio, added: “Andrew Neil joining Times Radio for the election campaign gives the station the strongest political line up in British radio, alongside the likes of John Pienaar, Kate McCann, Matt Chorley and Adam Boulton. Andrew’s authoritative take and razor-sharp analysis will be unmissable. Listeners want to know what’s really going on, and what to make of all the claims and counter-claims. Andrew will give it to them straight. And having Michael Gove and Harriet Harman join him each week is the icing on the cake.”
In the updated Times Radio schedule, Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell set the agenda at Breakfast, followed by Matt Chorley’s unique must-listen mid-morning show from 10am to 1pm.
Following Andrew Neil’s agenda-setting 1pm show, Jane Garvey and Fi Glover’s lively conversation and fresh look at the news moves an hour earlier, starting now at 2pm. John Pienaar has the latest campaign news and political interviews in Drive from 4pm, Kait Borsay will be on air from 7pm with the main stories of the day, before Carole Walker (Mon to Weds) and Henry Bonsu (Thursday) look ahead to the big election stories of the next day including tomorrow's front pages from 10pm.
In the latest round of RAJAR audience listening figures, announced this month, Times Radio posted a reach of 503k with weekly listening hours up 26.7% year-on-year to a record 4.4m. This represents an average of 8.8 hours per listener a week - another record for the station, and a sign of how its influential listeners are tuning in to Times Radio’s quality news coverage for longer than ever before.
Times Radio is available on DAB radio, online, on smart speakers, and via the free app.
