Wednesday 17th April 2024: Virgin Radio UK has announced a Spring refresh to its line-up welcoming new and familiar voices to new time slots from 27th April.
Weekends has a new breakfast show with Angela Scanlon, on air every Saturday and Sunday morning from 7-10am.
Virgin Radio regulars Leigh Francis and Tom Allen have new time slots, with Leigh on every Saturday 10am-1pm and Tom on every Sunday, just ahead of TV legends Dick & Dom taking over the studio from 1pm to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday.
Angela Scanlon says: “I know how many of you have dreamt about waking up to my husky dulcet tones, well dreams come true gang!! I’ll be getting up with you every weekend on Virgin Radio & I am inappropriately excited. Stick the kettle on!”
Leigh Francis says, “I’m super excited to start my new Virgin Radio Show fresh off the back of my first ever tour! Remember Saturday mornings when telly was good? Hopefully I can create that vibe but on the radio. Can’t believe I just said vibe.”
Tom Allen says, “I’m over the moon to be starting off Sundays in style with the perfect mix of great songs, chat and a bit of a laugh. See you there!”
Dick & Dom say: “WE’RE BACK ON THE WEEKENDS! As genuine long term listeners and lovers of Virgin Radio we’re over the moon to be joining the team. We both started our journeys in local radio so it’s great to be back behind the mic. Nice to have upgraded from a bungalow to studios at the top of the tower!!!”
Virgin Radio UK Content Director, Mike Cass, says: “We’ve had a lot of great listener feedback on Angela Scanlon as well as Dick & Dom when they’ve covered and I’m delighted they’re now a permanent addition to the weekend line-up alongside new times for the amazing Leigh & Tom”
Other changes to the Virgin Radio UK schedule has Olivia Jones as the new host of the weekday late show, Graeme Smith joining the weekend team.
Presenter Harpz Kaur joins Virgin Radio from the BBC Asian network, and has a new home in the 1am to 4am slot on Saturdays and Sundays.
