The Sun's Cosy at Christmas campaign raises over £100,000

The Sun's Cosy at Christmas campaign has raised over £100,000 and led to 12,500 clothing donations

The Sun’s Cosy At Christmas campaign raised more than £100,000 thanks to generous donations from readers and brands including Lidl, Aviva and Next.

As a result of the appeal, 12,500 much-needed items from brands including Ikea and Amazon were donated to help keep kids warm over winter. Sainsbury’s clothing brand, Tu, also donated 3,000 pairs of pyjamas worth £20,000.

The Sun’s Cosy At Christmas appeal asked readers to donate money or new and good-quality pre-loved warm clothing, such as coats, jumpers and nightwear, to a local baby bank.

Baby banks provide essentials such as nappies, clothes, toys and prams for struggling families with kids up to the age of five. The campaign was backed by the Princess of Wales, who visited Sebby’s Corner baby bank in Barnet, North London, to raise awareness of the vital work they and others like them do.

Celebrities including Loose Women anchor Charlene White, TV presenter Christine Lampard, TV personality Chloe Madeley and actor Ashley Jensen also visited baby banks around the UK for the appeal.
