talkSPORT announces Lianne Sanderson as the new presenter of The Women's Football Show
Tuesday 23rd January 2024: talkSPORT today announces that former Lioness Striker Lianne Sanderson is taking over as the new presenter of The Women's Football Show on talkSPORT 2 every Monday afternoon.
The show will continue to cover the Women’s Super League, Women's FA Cup, International matches, plus all the latest Women's football news and transfer gossip. Following her successful tenure, former show host Faye Carruthers is stepping down to focus on presenting talkSPORT’s Premier League coverage, as well as continuing as talkSPORT’s England Correspondent.
The Women's Football Show, which was created four years ago, is dedicated to covering the women's game and will be broadcast as a weekly show on talkSPORT 2 as well as released as a podcast every Monday afternoon. Having former Lioness Lianne at the helm marks an exciting chapter in The Women's Football Show story, with Lianne able to utilise her experience and knowledge to offer listeners expert analysis of the game and big guests from the industry.
Lianne played as a forward, winning 50 caps for the England national team, making her debut for England in 2006. She was also part of the England squad at the 2007 and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, during which she won a bronze medal, and the UEFA Women's Euro 2009. Since joining talkSPORT as a broadcaster, Lianne won Silver for Best Newcomer at the 2022 Audio and Radio Industry Awards.
Lianne is also a key member of talkSPORT’s live women’s football coverage as co-commentator on England Women’s internationals, including last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Women’s Super League and the Women’s League Cup and Women’s FA Cup.
Kicking things off, the show will feature professional footballer Ali Riley, currently playing in the US, as co-host for the first week, as well as an exclusive interview with Manchester City midfielder Laura Coombs to come.
