News UK names Tom Jackson Chief Technology Officer
London Friday 1st December: News UK has today named Tom Jackson as Chief Technology Officer, with ultimate responsibility for the technology infrastructure which underpins News UK’s digital-first strategy.
Currently Director of Data at News UK, Tom has almost 30 years’ experience in digital management, driving cross-functional teams and leading data and digital strategy and delivery in media, publishing and educational settings. Prior to joining News UK, Tom has held senior technology positions at HarperCollins, Guardian News & Media and ProQuest Information & Learning.
Tom was named Director of Data Technology in 2018, and since then has managed the central data function at News UK, facilitating the delivery of strategic digital objectives for The Sun, Times Media and News Broadcasting. Running a 100-strong team based in London, Sofia and Bangalore, Tom has led the development of data science, generative AI, data warehousing and data product development across News UK.
In his new role he will be responsible for News UK’s multi-award-winning, multidisciplinary central technology teams, business partnering to ensure each division has the right overall structure and architecture, as well as the best talent and capability, to deliver world-class products to audiences of almost 40 million people each month.
Tom will work closely with the senior leadership teams across The Sun, Times Media and News Broadcasting to ensure the delivery of a high-quality experience for consumer audiences and commercial partners.
