Scott Taunton

Scott Taunton is EVP, President of Broadcasting, News UK, and is responsible for our broadcasting businesses, including Talk, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio UK and Times Radio - as well as for producing short and long form video content for all News UK brands through a new division, News Studios. He is focused on driving connected audiences and new digital revenues from audio, video and CTV platforms.

Scott has led our national broadcast brands through a period of rapid digital growth characterised by innovation and investment in talent and sports rights, alongside record listening hours. His signing of Chris Evans to Virgin Radio UK Breakfast Show delivered an innovative industry-first ad break-free partnership with Sky. talkSPORT reaches 3.3 million listeners weekly and recently added Jeff Stelling to its Breakfast roster. The network's exclusive rights to Premier League, EFL and other football provide fans with must-listen access to over 450 live games per season - more than any other broadcaster.

Scott has led the expansion of the Talk current affairs and opinion brand across a range of CTV and streaming platforms, as well as across digital radio, social platforms, on the talk.tv website and via the app. Meanwhile the award-winning Piers Morgan Uncensored is among the biggest current affairs shows on YouTube globally, with over 2.5 million subscribers.

In June 2020 Scott oversaw the successful launch of Times Radio, which delivered strong debut RAJAR listening figures, finding a highly affluent and influential audience through broadcasters like Aasmah Mir, Stig Abell, Matt Chorley, Jane Garvey, Fi Glover and John Pienaar.

Scott also oversees a number of market-leading Irish stations, alongside a rapidly expanding digital audio and podcasting arm - which includes the award-winning The Story - and digital businesses Simply Zesty and Tibus.

Scott has had a long career in the media industry across radio, television and digital media. He was general manager of DNA Internet until March 2000, when the company was acquired by Northern Ireland-based broadcaster UTV Media. He became chief executive officer of UTV Radio and was appointed to the board of UTV Media plc following the acquisition of Wireless in 2005 by UTV. Wireless was acquired by News UK in 2016.

Scott was awarded a Radio Academy Fellowship in 2014.
