Race for Life in memory of Dame Deborah James

Hundreds join Cancer Research UK's Race for Life in memory of Dame Deborah James

Around 1,000 people completed Cancer Research’s Race for Life in Battersea Park. Dubbed ‘Race for Debs’ this year, Dame Deborah James’ family and friends all paid special tribute to her as they completed the race dressed in her trademark sequins, glitter and Rebellious Hope t-shirts. Following her diagnosis, Dame Deborah James shared her love of running with Sun readers in her column, taking part in Race For Life almost every year.

Dame Deborah James was an inspirational campaigner and a writer for The Sun who passed away last June, five and a half years after she was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer. Before her passing, she launched her Bowelbabe Fund, which has raised £11.3 million to date.
