- The Sun is the #1 digital newsbrand reaching 28.2m readers a month, 18.7m readers a week and 6.5m readers per day through its digital platforms.
- The Sun is the #1 print newsbrand reaching 6.2m readers a month, 4.8m readers a week and 2.4m readers per day through its print products.
- The Sun reaches 12.9m Sports fans and 9.6m Footie fans a month. 53% of Sun readers are women.
During this period of data collection from June 2021 to December 2022, combined with Ipsos data from November 2022, The Sun led the news agenda with world-beating exclusives and vitally important campaigns.
Our agenda-setting exclusives including Chris Pincher's resignation, and - after we broke the story of his affair 18 months before - our coverage of Matt Hancock entering the celebrity jungle got the whole country talking once again.
Press Awards News Reporter of the Year and The Sun's Defence Editor, Jerome Starkey reported from the front line of the Ukraine conflict, bringing to light serious Russian war crimes. His films have been seen over 14 million times by our online readers.
Our important work with Women's Aid continued to provide real change and lead debate for survivors of domestic abuse, and our annual Who Cares Wins health awards once again celebrated our healthcare heroes - from the frontline NHS staff to the ordinary people who go over and above to keep us all safe. Some of Britain’s best-loved charity campaigners and famous faces were on hand to present the awards last year, including HRH King Charles III, Anthony Joshua, David Beckham and Mel B.
Our campaigning aided our readers during the cost of living crisis, demanding fuel duty was kept down as well as providing money saving tips. And Dame Deborah James continued to campaign on behalf of those living with bowel cancer to help spread vital information. In the wake of her tragic diagnosis, she used her column to help raise money for her Bowelbabe fund. The Sun’s campaign to then make Deborah James a Dame lasted only 24 hours, until a visit from Prince William made it official.
The Sun’s World Cup coverage even got the people of Paris talking as we staged stunts in the city letting them know football was coming home. As well as celebrating England's successes in the World Cup, we also kept the sporting news coming with Piers Morgan's world exclusive interview with Ronaldo.
Last year, we also mourned the death of our much loved Queen Elizabeth II, and celebrated her life with peerless tribute magazines dedicated to her life.
Victoria Newton, Editor in Chief of The Sun, says: "A big thank you to all of our readers who have helped The Sun remain the number one news brand in Britain.
"The Sun has had another brilliant 18 months winning prestigious awards for our journalism as well as beating our rivals to break world exclusives.
“You, our readers have also been incredible in supporting Sun campaigns including our Ukraine Fund, raising money for those affected by the war.
“The Sun will always bring you the biggest and best stories, opinions, sporting news and analysis, and serious public service journalism every day - all with a smile."
