Virgin Radio UK welcomes Ricky Wilson
Kaiser Chiefs frontman joins iconic radio station
Virgin Radio UK today announces it is welcoming Ricky Wilson to the station. Ricky joins a lineup that includes Chris Evans at breakfast and Graham Norton at the weekend, as well as recent addition to the station, Jayne Middlemiss.
Ricky is best known as the lead singer of Kaiser Chiefs. The English indie rock band skyrocketed to fame in 2005 with their debut album Employment, and the band recently released a brand new single How 2 Dance. Ricky was also a coach on popular singing competition TV show The Voice UK, where he was the winning coach two years in a row.
On Virgin Radio, Ricky has previously stood in for Chris Evans, and he will now take over the drivetime slot from Monday 9th January.
Ricky Wilson commented: “I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to getting started on Virgin Radio. Music is the number one passion, but I’m so excited about having some fun in a playful and creative space for drive time. Plus I’ll be working alongside some amazing and talented people who have been some of my radio heroes. I’ve been interviewed by most of them and now I get to work with them, including Chris, who has probably interviewed me more than my doctor. Virgin Radio listeners are incredible so I’m excited to entertain them all in the New Year.”
Virgin Radio UK Content Director Mike Cass said: “Ricky is a legend in the music business, and we’re extremely excited to have him joining Virgin Radio in January. Ricky will bring his electric energy and infectious personality to the drivetime slot, keeping our listeners entertained on their way home from work. I can’t wait for our audience to hear his show.”
