Times Radio announces new evening schedule for Autumn
- Kait Borsay - 8pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday
- Henry Bonsu - 10pm to 1am Thursday and Friday
- Darryl Morris - 10pm to 1am Saturday and Sunday
Times Radio today announces a change to its evening schedule from Monday 10th October. The new line-up sees Kait Borsay stepping into weekday evenings, and new late-night shows for Henry Bonsu and Darryl Morris.
Kait Borsay has a new Times Radio show, The Evening Edition, which runs from 8 to 10pm every Monday to Thursday evening. It will take a considered approach to the stories of the day, focusing on new voices and perspectives, and will share an exclusive look at some of the stories which will shape the Times’ editions of tomorrow.
Kait has been bringing her conversational style to Times Radio for over two years, building a loyal audience of late-night weekend listeners. A broadcast journalist for over 20 years, Kait has a passion for bringing diverse stories and fresh voices to the airwaves. She has a background in television working for broadcasters including Sky News, ITN and Reuters, as well as broadcasting for TalkRadio.
Kait said: "After two years looking after the late-night audience on Times Radio, I'm thrilled to be fronting a shiny new show! Whether you're preparing dinner in the kitchen, ferrying teens in the car, or enjoying a bit of downtime at the end of the day, The Evening Edition will bring you insightful conversations and opinions on some of the biggest stories of the day. And some well-known voices to tickle your fancy. I can't wait to get started!"
There are also new presenters joining the Times Radio schedule at 10pm. There are no changes from Monday to Wednesday evening, which as before are presented by Carole Walker.
But broadcaster Henry Bonsu gets a permanent berth at Times Radio for the first time, hosting the 10pm-1am slot every Thursday and Friday.
After starting out in print journalism, Henry stepped into broadcasting, working with BBC News and Current Affairs, Radio 4's Today Programme, and BBC London Radio. He's been an analyst on Sky News, Al Jazeera, and MSNBC, and is one of the UN's most sought after conference moderators. Last year Henry joined the Times Radio team as a cover presenter, but has now established himself as a fixture in the evening schedule. His show will centre around thoughtful debate on current affairs and in-depth interviews on politics and cultural affairs.
Henry said: “One of the many reasons I love Times Radio is that the station allows presenters to cultivate their own unique style. I was once called "too intellectual" by a former boss, but here I'm free to drop in the occasional French or Swahili expression, and be a little idiosyncratic in my approach. I enjoy listening to colleagues earlier in the day, then challenging myself to find a new way of breaking down stories for our audience, then looking ahead to the next day's agenda."
Meanwhile, Darryl Morris is joining Times Radio to take over the 10pm late show on Saturday and Sunday night. Darryl started his broadcasting career aged 16 at Manchester radio station Key 103. He spent time with the BBC, XFM and Hits Radio, before moving into speech radio in 2019, joining TalkRadio.
Darryl says, “When I was a boy, I would snuggle under my covers and dream of chatting on late night radio - that precious, intimate corner of the media. Late night radio is a special place and so too is Times Radio. We’ll come together on the weekend and wrap our heads around the news, speak to interesting guests and get intelligent insight from people in the know. It is - literally - a dream come.”
Times Radio Programme Director Tim Levell said: “Times Radio is all about warm, friendly, intelligent presenters who love talking about the news with listeners. In Kait, Henry and Darryl we absolutely have that. They've all formed a connection with our audience over the past year or more, and with these changes we have strengthened the Times Radio line-up further, to make sure we have quality news coverage whenever listeners tune in."
Times Radio recently announced Jane Garvey and Fi Glover as their latest signings. Jane and Fi will co-present a live afternoon show together on the station 3-5pm every Monday to Thursday, sharing their reflections on the day’s news, also starting on Monday 10 October. The pair will also launch a new podcast on the same day, Off Air with Jane and Fi.
As a reminder, the Monday to Thursday schedule for the station is as follows:
- 5am to 6am - Anna Cunningham with Early Breakfast
- 6am to 10am - Aasmah Mir & Stig Abell with Times Radio Breakfast
- 10am to 1pm - Matt Chorley
